CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Students with disabilities in Central Illinois may have difficulty getting the best educational services they deserve. The Community and Residential Services Authority wants to answer parent’s questions about how to find resources their child may need.
On Sunday, CRSA Coordinator Juli Kartel presented at the Champaign Public Library to give families information about support for students who may learn differently.
“I think some of the barriers are, parents are just afraid to ask, don’t know what they could be asking for or when they should be asking for it,” she said. “So hopefully, you know, today will help ease some of that. Again, that’s part of what we’re here for, to help parents understand that process.”
Kartel said the goal is to give students the least restrictive environment so they can learn with their peers in general education classes.
