ARCOLA, Ill. (WCIA) — After more than eight decades since he fell in combat, a soldier from Arthur has finally been laid to rest in his hometown.
On Monday, Staff Sergeant Paul A. Gregg found his final resting place at Arcola Township Cemetery. Born in 1915, Gregg was known for his prowess on the high school football field before serving in World War II. He perished during the Battle of the Bulge in Luxembourg. For many years, his remains lay unidentified in a national cemetery until they were finally recognized in 2025.
