HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC — After years of standing vacant, a significant plot on Hilton Head Island has found a new lease on life with a mission to enhance local healthcare services.
The Hilton Head Island Town Council has given the green light to Novant Health’s acquisition of the former Classic Motors site located on Main Street.
This 4.5-acre property, purchased for $4.34 million, is set to transform into a 25,000-square-foot medical office facility. The complex will host urgent care, physical therapy, urology, and primary care services.
Novant Health, which also operates the Hilton Head Regional Medical Center, is committing $25 million to the development of this state-of-the-art facility.
“With limited opportunities for new construction on Hilton Head, this site’s proximity to the hospital made it ideal,” explained Joel Taylor, market CEO of Hilton Head Regional Medical Center. “We are actively recruiting new physicians. The well-being of Hilton Head Hospital is a priority, and we will keep investing in both services and medical staff. This project exemplifies our commitment to the community on Hilton Head Island.”
The facility should lead to between 50 and 100 jobs in its first five years.
Novant will break ground in January and be open for business about one year later.
