TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A family is searching for answers after a 14-year-old was found shot and killed near railroad tracks along Busch Boulevard in Tampa.
Jevario Buie, like many teens, was looking forward to growing up.
“Jevario was a goofy kid,” said Michael Baldwin, his grandfather. “He was a good kid. He did not drink. He did not smoke. He did not do any drugs. He never had a gun.”
Buie was found shot to death by the railroad tracks near West Busch Boulevard and Rome Avenue in Tampa.
“I wonder how anyone could do him like that, how could anyone want to do him that way?” Baldwin said.
His family is hoping to find the person or persons involved to bring their family closure.
“Silence when acts like these occur to a baby,” Baldwin said. “Jevario was a baby. He was 14 years old and we got babies killing babies and some of these babies our own babies and somebody know that their kid was involved in this.”
In the meantime, Tampa police are trying to solve yet another case of a teen being at the center of gun violence.
“We ask you to think of his mother. Think of his family. They are absolutely heartbroken. They are devastated and they deserve answers,” Tampa police spokesperson Jonee Lewis told News Channel 8 on Monday.
A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family.
