ORLANDO, Fla. – A beloved fixture of downtown Orlando’s nightlife, Tanqueray’s, will soon shutter its doors for good. The announcement came as a surprise to many loyal patrons who have frequented the bar for nearly four decades.
The iconic establishment, located at 100 S. Orange Ave., broke the news through a heartfelt message on Facebook last Friday. In their announcement, they lamented the struggles faced by long-standing local bars in the downtown entertainment district, particularly since 2023.
The post conveyed a sense of frustration, stating, “The city has not been kind to the local bars in the downtown entertainment district since 2023, that have been in existence for a long time.” For Tanqueray’s, this marks the end of a significant chapter, as it would have celebrated its 37th anniversary this March.
The closure is not by choice but rather a necessity. The bar’s lease will not be renewed, a decision made by the building’s owner, leaving the bar owner with no alternative but to close.

As such, the restaurant is slated to close on Dec. 31 — New Year’s Eve.
“I am humbled at the patronage our ‘regulars’ have participated in over the years, along with all the magnificent local musicians that have performed at our venue,” the post continues. “Your continued support has made Tanq’s an exceptional live music destination for many years.”
