The Jacksonville Jaguars showcased a dominant performance on Sunday, securing a resounding 48-20 victory over the New York Jets at Everbank Stadium. This win marked their 10th triumph of the season.

This achievement is significant as it is the first time since 2017 that the Jaguars have reached a 10-win season, a notable milestone often seen as a gateway to playoff contention in the NFL.

Currently topping the AFC South standings, the Jaguars are eyeing a playoff spot, a feat they haven’t achieved since 2022, which was the sophomore year for quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

From the start, the Jaguars exuded the confidence and skill of a playoff-caliber team. They swiftly marched down the field on their opening drive, covering 72 yards in nine plays to score.

Brian Thomas Jr. contributed significantly to the early lead, securing his second touchdown of the season, putting Jacksonville ahead at 7-0.

Then later in the first quarter, New York goes for it on fourth-and-1. However, the NFL’s No. 1-ranked rush defense comes up with a stop. UGA alum Trayvon Walker records the tackle for a loss. New York turns the ball over on downs.

Jacksonville takes over at the New York 38-yard line. Five plays later, Lawrence takes advantage. He scrambles 15 yards for the score and the score is 14-0 Jacksonville.

After New York scored to make it a 14-7 contest, Jacksonville scored its third straight touchdown. Lawrence finds running back Bayshaul Tuten, who laid out for the catch and rolled in the end zone for the score. The Jags led, 21-7, early in the second quarter.

With just over a minute remaining in the first half, Montaric Brown makes an interception. Jacksonville takes over at the New York 47-yard line.

Then, with 31 seconds left remaining in the second quarter, Lawrence finds Travis Etienne out of the backfield for the score. The running back makes a diving catch as the Jags go up 31-10 after the PAT.

The score was 31-10 at halftime. Jacksonville and New York each scored 10 points in the second half.

The last time Jacksonville won 10 games in a single season was 2017. The Jaguars made the playoffs that year and advanced to the AFC Conference Championship game.

Next Sunday, Jacksonville travels to Denver for a date with the top team in the NFL: the Denver Broncos.
