JCPD seeking suspect in fatal 2022 head-on crash

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – The Johnson City Police Department (JCPD) is seeking a vehicular homicide suspect after a fatal crash in 2022.

According to the JCPD, the Washington County Grand Jury issued a presentment charging Lori Gross-Simpson with vehicular homicide in September 2023. Since then, the JCPD stated officers have not been able to find her.

The charge follows a fatal crash on E. Main Street in Johnson City near Fleming Road on Oct. 7, 2022.

The JCPD reports the crash occurred when the vehicle Gross-Simpson was driving crossed the center line into oncoming traffic and hit another vehicle head-on.

The driver of the other vehicle died at the hospital due to their injuries.

Anyone with information on Gross-Simpson’s whereabouts is asked to call the JCPD at 423-434-6135 or call Crime Stoppers at 423-434-6158 to remain anonymous.
