SAVANNAH, Ga. () — After enduring a year-long quest for justice, the mother of 25-year-old Trevon Moorer, who tragically lost his life on Highway 204, expressed a sense of closure at last.

Sheena Lewis, Trevon’s mother, shared her complex emotions following the indictment of Jamond Reid and Jatwone Reid in connection with her son’s death.

For Lewis, the situation is devoid of victors, as it has shattered the lives of three families.

“In this scenario, everyone suffers. I mourn the loss of my son, while those other parents face the heartache of their sons entering the prison system. It’s a tragedy for all,” Lewis remarked.

She reflected on how her existence has been irrevocably altered without her son by her side.

“There is no healing… I have to adjust, and I still haven’t fully or properly adjusted to my life without him,” said Lewis.

The 25-year-old was killed on July 25, 2024, after his family said he was mistaken for someone else.

Lewis said she now feels that she has fulfilled her promise to her son.

“I promised him I would get justice for him. I promise I will find out who killed him,” Lewis said.

Lewis said Trevon was a lover of music, cooking, family and was Sheena’s first born.

She said even though they found the two men responsible, their family will never be the same, and the hurt will always be there.

“I have a broken heart and I miss my son every day,” said Lewis.

“I cry for my son because he didn’t deserve it,” said Lewis.

With compassion and empathy in her heart, Lewis wants the two men charged with Trevon’s murderers to know she doesn’t hate them despite the situation.

“I am angry with them, but I don’t hate them, and like I said, my heart goes out to them and their parents, and I feel bad that they had to eventually lose their lives to the prison system,” said Lewis.

Trevon leaves behind two daughters who were in the car when he was killed but weren’t injured because he threw his body on top of them to shield them from the bullets.

Sheena told me she wants her son’s memory to live on and for everyone to know how great a person and father he was.

Dates have not been set for the two brothers who are charged with the murder, but will keep you updated as we learn more.
