In Augusta, Georgia, a captivating story has resurfaced, rekindling the intrigue surrounding the remarkable journey of “The Suitcase.”
A year ago, we shared the fascinating tale of an Aiken woman who cherished a suitcase filled with cherished memorabilia belonging to her father. This suitcase was more than just a container; it was a treasure trove of memories and mementos.
Delving into “The Suitcase: the Life and Times of Captain X,” readers were transported into the extraordinary life of Vladimir George Taussig. His story spanned continents, from his early years in Czechoslovakia to his time in Shanghai and England, and eventually, his arrival in New York.
In a recent and heartwarming update, Debbie Boehner reached out to share that, after eight long decades, her father’s significant contributions to the Czech Army in Shanghai have finally been acknowledged. In a poignant medal ceremony held at the Embassy of the Czech Republic, she accepted the Cross of State Defence of the Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic on her father’s behalf.
We are delighted to hear of this overdue recognition and extend our heartfelt congratulations to Debbie and her family on this well-deserved honor.
