League of Women Voters to Host Educational Workshop in Johnson City This Sunday

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – Preparing to cast your ballot can be a detailed process, and on Sunday, a local group dedicated to empowering voters held a workshop aimed at equipping the women of Johnson City with the tools they need to make informed voting decisions.

The Northeast Tennessee Chapter of the League of Women Voters organized the event to guide attendees in creating a comprehensive voting toolkit. The workshop covered essential topics such as developing a voting checklist, accessing credible information about candidates, and exploring various voting options for the upcoming August election.

Candace Tanner, President of the organization, spoke to News Channel 11 about the event’s objectives, emphasizing the importance of boosting voter turnout and enhancing voter knowledge. “Our aim is to remind voters in this region about what they need to prepare and how to plan their voting process,” Tanner explained. “We want to encourage everyone not to be intimidated or uncertain, but to confidently exercise their right to vote. It’s about revisiting the rules and ensuring they know what steps to take to successfully cast their votes.”

The League of Women Voters of Northeast Tennessee boasts nearly 100 members, all committed to fostering informed and active participation in the democratic process.
