SAVANNAH, Ga. () – The Savannah Jewish Federation is launching the “Race To The Prom” project. It is a donation drive from now until April 10, 2024, to help a girl’s dream come true.
“For many prom season, which should be a joyous celebration of accomplishment, becomes a stressful one for many young women. Not having the resources to obtain a dress or shoes, not to mention hair, makeup, and accessories, can create enormous anxiety. Through your generous support, we can assist these young women who are deserving. Help us make every girl feel beautiful and worthwhile on her special prom day,” Savannah Jewish Federation.
The federation is asking for donations of prom dresses and accessories such as:
• Formal and Semi-Formal Dresses: short, long, sparkly or not. Must be clean and in good condition (no stains or tears, please!).
• Accessories: purses, wraps, jackets, shoes, etc. Must be clean and in good condition.
• Costume Jewelry
• Unused Cosmetics/Beauty/Fragrance Samples
The donations can be dropped off at either of the following locations
Jewish Educational Alliance, 5111 Abercorn Street, Savannah M-Th (6 a.m.-9 p.m.), Fri (6 a.m.-6 p.m.), Sat (12-6 p.m.), Sun (9 a.m.-6 p.m.)
Buckingham South, 5040 Abercorn Street, Savannah Mon-Fri (9 a.m.-5 p.m.)
If you have items to donate but can not drop them off just send an email to promdress@savj.org with what items you have and your contact information and a pickup will be arranged.
They are also looking for volunteers to assist in the setup or administration of the store when it is open. To apply click here.
