WILLIAMSVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Marcus Domask, a former Illinois basketball standout, has returned to Central Illinois to give back to a community that supported him during his pivotal season that saw Illinois reach the Elite Eight in 2024.
Domask is organizing a week-long basketball camp at Williamsville High School, targeting students from grades 1 through 8.
Since his time with the Fighting Illini, Domask has ventured into professional basketball, playing in the NBA G-League and international leagues in Germany and Belgium.
Growing up in Wisconsin and the son of a high school basketball coach, Domask cherishes his childhood experiences of attending summer camps.
Through his camps, Domask aims to inspire kids to enjoy the game while enhancing their basketball skills.
“I think sports, especially in the youth nowadays, can get a little overwhelming and too competitive, too early, and I think camps just create so many fun memories,” Domask said. “We play a lot of games, we work on skills and IQ and everything, but we play a lot of games, and the kids always have a blast.”
Williamsville head boys basketball coach Nick Beard was also on hand for the camp and said that the chance for campers to learn from a player like Marcus is something they’ll never forget.
“We’re pretty lucky to have the facilities we do and to have the help we do this week, and for Marcus to come down out of his busy schedule says a lot about the type of guy he is,” Beard said.
