Mother, grandmother arrested, charged in reference to overdose of one-year old

RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. () – A mother and grandmother have been arrested and charged in reference to the overdose of a one-year old.

According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, authorities responded to the Children’s Hospital of Georgia on Monday, March 18th in reference to an overdose of a one-year child believed to allegedly be from exposure to methamphetamine.

According to the Criminal Investigation Division of the RCSO, the mother, Deborah Danielle Wright, 29, and the grandmother, Laura Michelle Wright, 51, of the child were arrested and charged with one count each of Cruelty to Children in the Second-Degree. 

Authorities say the one-year old was admitted to the hospital and is currently in stable condition.

The criminal investigation is still ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
