Neil Street in Champaign will have lane closures beginning next week

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Drivers in Champaign can expect a series of intermittent lane closures on North Neil Street in the coming weeks.

The closures will be located between Edgebrook Drive and Washington Street. City officials said that starting Monday, the south end of this stretch of Neil will close with closures gradually moving north over the following 10 days.

City officials said the closures will be necessary as crews complete a series of soil borings. The borings, officials added, are part of the preliminary design effort for the implementation of recommendations within the North Neil Street Corridor Plan.

This work is dependent on the weather, so it could be delayed in the event of inclement weather, officials said.
