North Augusta YMCA Celebrates Grand Opening of New Facility with Vibrant Community Block Party

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. ()- On Saturday, the North Augusta Family YMCA marked the grand opening of its newly expanded facility by hosting a lively community block party.

Hundreds of attendees gathered to explore the larger, upgraded space, which surpasses the dimensions of the former location.

This new facility offers a variety of amenities, including advanced wellness areas, group exercise studios, childcare zones, a red-light sauna, and indoor pickleball courts. These enhancements aim to provide families with increased opportunities to bond, develop, and flourish together.

The grand opening event was packed with activities such as live entertainment, offerings from local food vendors, community booths, a Kids Zone, and guided tours of the facility. Highlights included a Mascot Pickleball Game and a Celebrity Pickleball Tournament featuring well-known personalities and groups from the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA).

Catie McCauley, the President & CEO of the Family YMCA of Greater Augusta, emphasized that while fitness is a significant focus of their mission, the Y is much more than just a gym.

“Whether it’s kids programs, summer camp. We had 100 kids in here last week for summer camp. We have our after school programs that would be housed here in the fall. Lots of activity for kids, but we also have outreach efforts,” she explained. “So whether it is ‘Cheryl’s Kitchen,’ where we’re going to give 300,000 meals out this summer for ‘Cheryl’s Kitchen’ or ‘A Place to Dream’ where we provide kids beds around the community that don’t have them. We want to make sure that we’re filling gaps in our community and really looking at as a nonprofit, looking at what are those gaps and how can we help fill them.”
