EAST HANOVER, NJ. (WTAJ) — OREO is going out of this world with its latest limited-edition cookie, and one lucky fan might even win a trip to space.

OREO announced on Jan. 23 its limited-edition “Space Dunk” cookies, which are a galaxy-inspired take on the popular cookie. That’s not all though: one person will have the opportunity to take a six-hour trip to the edge of space with OREO and Space Perspective as part of a new sweepstakes.

“OREO cookies are all about transporting fans to a place full of excitement and childlike curiosity,” said OREO vice president Michelle Deignan. “We’re over the moon about partnering with Space Perspective to give one lucky fan the opportunity to dunk an OREO cookie while gliding through space. Through this campaign we hope to take playfulness to new heights, proving it is not only in all of us, but also exists in space.”

The cookie itself features layers of blue and pink “cosmic creme” with a marshmallow flavor, and popping candies that create a “supernova bursting sensation” with each bite. The OREOs also have a little cut-out in the cookie to give fans a sneak peek of the creme inside.

Those who are interested in the sweepstakes can head to OREO’s Lift Off website to enter for a chance to travel to space in the Space Perspective’s Spaceship Neptune — a pressurized capsule propelled by a SpaceBalloon.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the iconic OREO brand to be the first to bring a cookie fan aboard a Space Perspective flight,” Jane Poynter, Founder and Co-CEO, Space Perspective said. “Together, we have put innovation, accessibility, playfulness and the spirit of exploration at the heart of this partnership – not to mention taking OREO cookies where they’ve never gone before!

The limited-edition cookies were available for presale online but have sold out. However, the cosmic treat will be available in stores nationwide starting Jan. 31.
