Danville man arrested in connection to overnight shooting

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — A 15-year-old boy is under arrest in Danville after police said he was caught with a stolen gun on Tuesday.

Officials with the Danville Police Department said officers were dispatched to a business at Vermilion and English Streets at 7 p.m. for a report of someone with a gun. Officers were given a description, and officials said that person, just 15 years old, was found inside the business.

The teen is said to have tried to run away from the officers but was caught and detained. Officials added that they recovered a gun from the teen that had been previously reported stolen.

The teen has been charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a stolen firearm, obstructing and resisting a police officer and aggravated battery to a police officer.

In a press release announcing the arrest, Danville Police officials thanked the public for seeing something and saying something.
