AUGUSTA, Ga. () – The Richmond County Sheriff’s office is investigating a shooting near Broad Street and Wood Street, and deputies say they responded around 1 P.M. on\ Friday.
Two people were transported to a local hospital with one gunshot wound.
Local activists say enough is enough.
“It starts in the home with respect training a child up in the way they should go it all starts in the home” said Lisa Bigham, local activist.
For Bigham, it’s personal. She says her son was almost a victim.
“Guess they wanted to go on Bobby Jones and shoot whoever they saw, and my son was coming from Evans down Bobby Jones Expressway. If that bullet would have went through, it would have got him in the back of the head.”
Her solution is more events and activities.
“And I think we need to have more programs for the young men and the young women to attend. They need to attend Bible Study. I think they need to have a center or something where these children can go to and have mentors.”
