NORTH DAKOTA () — For over 20 years, the Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships has connected community-based organizations in North Dakota with the Department of Commerce.
Combining faith and work may be the solution for the workforce shortage in some of our smaller cities.
Throughout the country, and especially in North Dakota, churches are the center of many American families. And with religion as a foundation, the government suggests building from it.
Right now, faith-based organizations work with many people in their congregations and cities through resources and mentorships. These churches have maintained local economies for generations. In addition to spiritual and financial help, churches have also worked socially through mentorships.
“Focus on mentorship. If you don’t have a mentor, look for one. If you are able to mentor, mentoring is so powerful,” said Elisa Rivera, who spoke at the Office of Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships’ recent summit.
A lot of faith-based organizations mentor with local businesses and cities already, but with this federal office, the government is willing to provide grants and funding to create a more robust and successful local workforce in our state.
