HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — The longtime girlfriend of a man convicted of kidnapping and killing Brittanee Drexel in 2009 was given a $10,000 bond in federal court on Wednesday on three counts of lying to investigators.
Angel Vause, 56, had an arraignment just before 2:30 p.m. in front of Magistrate Judge Molly H. Cherry.
Some conditions of her bond include supervision, she cannot change her address and she cannot use substances unless prescribed.
A news release issued Wednesday morning said Vause was indicted for allegedly lying to the FBI during their investigation into Drexel’s case.
The three-page indictment shows that in May 2022, Vause told an FBI agent that she had gone home to get keys from a truck ring while Drexel was being assaulted and killed by Vause’s boyfriend, Raymond Moody. However, the indictments say Vause was actually going somewhere else for a different reason.
The indictment also alleges that Vause told the FBI that Drexel had her cell phone the entire time when it was proven that Vause had possession of Drexel’s phone and disposed of it somewhere between Georgetown and Charleston.
Moody confessed to abducting and murdering Drexel, a 17-year-old New York native who was in Myrtle Beach during a spring break weekend in 2009.
The indictment further alleges Vause told the FBI that Drexel had willingly joined her and Moody to do drugs when it was later proven that Drexel was abducted under false pretenses.
