Thousands of Vornado space heaters recalled over potential 'shock and fire' hazards

(WJW) – Thousands of Vornado space heaters sold on Amazon have been recalled amid concerns over possible “electric shock and fire hazards,” according to the company.

(Consumer Product Safety Commission)

The issue with the recalled units, marketed as V2 Whole Room Heaters, concerns the power cords, per a recall notice issued last week.

“In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Vornado is voluntarily recalling certain VH2 Whole Room Heater units because the power cord can partially detach from the enclosure, which can lead to cord damage over time, posing electric shock and fire hazards,” reads the notice.

Consumers can identify the recalled units by one of two date codes — “JUL24” or “AUG24″ — printed on a label located on the underside of the heater. Only units with these codes are affected by the recall. The label will also bear the words “TYPE VH2.”

About 7,780 units were affected by this recall, the CPSC said. All of the units were sold exclusively on Amazon.

To date, there have been no reports of incidents or injuries due to the recalled heaters.

Customers who purchased an affected V2 Whole Room Heater from Amazon.com are urged to discontinue use and contact Vornado for a refund.
