Rex Heuermann is facing sentencing by a New York judge this Wednesday, following his guilty plea to a series of brutal murders along Long Island’s Gilgo Beach. Heuermann has admitted to seven killings and has also confessed to an eighth, all of which occurred over a span of several years.
In April, Heuermann confessed to three first-degree murder charges and four second-degree murder charges. His attorney, Mike Brown, initially suggested that Heuermann might address the court during the sentencing. However, Brown later refrained from confirming whether Heuermann would indeed speak, noting that his client had independently chosen to “accept responsibility” for his actions.

Heuermann’s guilty plea effectively guarantees a life sentence without the possibility of parole. The victims include Melissa Barthelemy, Maureen Brainard-Barnes, Amber Lynn Costello, Sandra Costilla, Valerie Mack, Jessica Taylor, and Megan Waterman. He has also acknowledged his involvement in the murder of Karen Vergata.
