At least three juveniles and one 18-year-old have been identified in connection with recent shootings, according to the Brunswick Police Department.

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — In a development announced on Wednesday, the Brunswick Police Department has charged several teenagers in relation to two shooting incidents that occurred in March.

The first shooting took place on Sunday, March 22, prompting a swift police response to a shots-fired call at the Brooklyn Homes North apartments located on Stonewall Street. Upon arrival, officers noted multiple cars had been damaged, and there was noticeable structural damage to one of the buildings within the complex.

While officers were assessing the situation, a resident informed them of a second shooting incident near the 2400 block of Cleburne Street. Authorities believe this incident is connected to the initial call at the apartment complex.

Through surveillance footage, investigators identified two vehicles that may be linked to the shootings: a white Ford Escape and a dark-colored Buick LaCrosse. This evidence has been instrumental in the ongoing investigation.

The police department says that as of Wednesday, April 1, three juveniles have been identified and charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, discharge of a firearm from a highway, criminal damage to property in the first degree, and possession of a firearm by a person under the age of 18. The three teens’ identities have not been revealed; however, they are currently in custody at the Department of Juvenile Justice.

An 18-year-old, LaDonte Roberts, was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes, discharge of a firearm from a highway, and criminal damage to property in the first degree. Roberts is currently in custody with the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office.

She runs into Min Ho who coincidentally reveals he also won’t be in town for her birthday because he’ll be in Los Angeles to meet up with a few music contacts and visit his mom. After she leaves, Min Ho tells Marius that he’s going to let Kitty go because she has her life “mapped out” and he doesn’t fit into her plans anymore.

Later, Kitty gets involved in a major mixup when Alex overhears Kitty speaking to his dad, Professor Daniel. Alex misunderstands what they’re talking about and spills the beans about Jiwon’s pregnancy. Kitty is horrified, initially, but Professor Daniel handles the news well. He shares a touching moment with Alex as he explains that he would have been more involved in his life had he known about him when he was younger. The father and son share a touching moment as they realize this can be their second chance.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Seoul, Dae is helping Eunice catch up on her studies. They’re just about to kiss when Min Ho burst in to rudely interrupt because Eunice had texted him saying, “911,” making him believe there was an emergency. But Eunice reveals the girl group SOS911 is planning to fire his father as their manager and want to hire him instead, offering another viable career path for him after KISS.

Kitty convinces Jiwon to allow her to call Halmoni and help them reconnect now that she is pregnant. When Jiwon tells Halmouni, she is shocked, but she’s scared Jiwon won’t need her anymore now that she is building a family of her own. But Kitty appeals to her grandmother by reminding her that, as matchmakers, they have to appreciate a perfect match like Alex and Jiwon.

Finally, after all of these happily ever afters, it’s time for Kitty’s big birthday party. But before she heads over with Q, Lara Jean calls Kitty to wish her happy birthday and reveals her boss loved her manuscript. She also tells her Peter says hi and reveals they’re going to make it work, which thrills Kitty.

On her way to her birthday party, Kitty can’t help but lament that things didn’t work out with Min Ho. But Q reminds Kitty to focus on enjoying her birthday, which she does. After all, every single one oof their friends are at her birthday party – including Min Ho! She’s touched to find out that Min Ho got camellias, her mother’s favorite flower, for the party. And Yuri surprised her with the exact same dress she was looking at.

The final moments of the party offer some closure on where Kitty’s friends leave things with their significant others. Q approaches Marius and asks him for help finding Jinn an internship with his father. But later, Jinn turns the opportunity down, though he appreciates the gesture. Q tells Jinn that he loves them. Yuri also shares a sweet moment with Juliana before going to share a dance together, hinting that there could still be feelings there.

Each of Kitty’s friend got her a gift to prove just how special she is to them, which Q reveals was Min Ho’s idea. It looks like Min Ho had a hand in planning much of this birthday party he had no plans of attending.

When Min Ho and Kitty finally share a dance, he reveals that he wasn’t lying when he told her that he initially wasn’t going to attend her birthday party. He ultimately canceled his trip to Los Angeles so he could come. The pair share an interesting moment then when he asks how she knew it was the “right path” to apply early decision to NYU. She admits she fell in love with Seoul, but their time apart helped her realize what she wanted for herself. Min Ho then tells her about the opportunity to manage SOS911, but notes it would require him to quite a bit of school next semester. He asks her what she thinks but their conversation is interrupted by everyone singing happy birthday to her.

The final episode ends with Kitty getting ready to head to the airport to catch her flight back home to Portland. But elsewhere, Min Ho admits to Dae that he’s been thinking about Kitty’s advice, which helped him realize he’s been too focused on other’s expectations of him when he actually wants to pursue what he loves – meaning Kitty. He rushes to Kitty’s dorm where Yuri and Juliana tell him Kitty is already taking the subway to the airport. They share a hilarious moment when Yuri has to explain how to navigate the subway system to this poor little rich boy. But it ultimately pays off when he follows Kitty to the train station.

Before swiping in, he texts Kitty a link to his “belated birthday gift” to her, a song he made called “By My Side.” He tells her he’s also in Seoul Station, but they catch sight of each other just as the doors closed on Kitty’s train. As it takes off for the airport, Kitty reflects on their time together while listening to Min Ho’s song. He finally catches up to her and confesses that he didn’t want to stand in the way of her future and, while he doesn’t know what his future holds, he has to let her know he wants her to be a part of it. Tennessee Simplifies Voting Rights Restoration: Changes to Child Support Rule for Felons


In Nashville, Tennessee, a new law has been enacted that reduces two major financial barriers for individuals with felony convictions seeking to regain their voting rights. Notably, Tennessee, unlike any other state, previously required these individuals to have fully paid their child support obligations.

The law, passed by the state’s Republican-dominated Legislature with support from Democrats, allows individuals to demonstrate that they have adhered to their child support orders for at least the past year, including through payment plans. Additionally, the legislation removes the requirement to pay off all court costs as a condition for restoring voting rights.

Advocates have long pushed for reforms to Tennessee’s voting rights restoration process, both in legislative sessions and the courts. They argue that the relaxation of these two requirements represents the most significant easing of restrictions on voting rights restoration in many years.

“This is a monumental and historic change,” stated Keeda Haynes, a senior attorney with Free Hearts, an advocacy organization comprised of formerly incarcerated women.

The legislation received overwhelming support, with most Republicans voting in favor and unanimous backing from Democrats. It was enacted immediately following the signature of Republican Governor Bill Lee last week.

“I think people are at a point where they want to just remove the barriers out of the way and allow people to be fully functional members of society,” said Democratic House Minority Leader Karen Camper, a bill sponsor.

Easing up after years

In 2023, the state decided gun rights were required to restore the right to vote, and shelved a paperwork process that didn’t require going to court. Election officials said a court ruling made the changes necessary, though voting rights advocates said officials misinterpreted the order.

Last year, lawmakers untangled voting and gun rights. But voting rights advocates opposed some of the bill’s other provisions, such as keeping the process in the courts, where costs can rack up if someone isn’t ruled indigent.

A Republican split

Easing up on the financial requirements uncommonly split legislative Republicans. For instance, Senate Speaker Randy McNally voted against it, while House Speaker Cameron Sexton supported it, noting that people aren’t getting forgiveness on making their payments.

“They need to continue paying that, and as long as they do, then there’s a possibility (to restore their voting rights),” Sexton said. “I really think that’s harder for people to argue against than maybe what something else was.”

Republican Rep. Johnny Garrett, who voted no, said in committee his vote would hinge on whether “there still can be an (child support) arrearage owed beyond that 12 months.”

For some, backed-up child support payments could reach hundreds or thousands of dollars, and court costs could be hundreds or thousands more, said Gicola Lane, Campaign Legal Center’s Restore Your Vote community partnership senior manager.

Advocates credited their narrowed focus, omitting goals such as automatic restoration of rights, no longer tying restitution payments to voting rights, or offering a path for certain people to restore their right who are permanently disenfranchised, including those convicted of voter fraud or most murder charges.

The bill passed the Senate last year and the House this year.

Two decades under the child support rule

Lawmakers gave the child support requirement final passage in 2006 within an overhaul bill that also created a voting rights restoration process outside of court. Critics said the child support rule penalized impoverished parents.

Democrats were then narrowly hanging onto legislative leadership in both chambers. Republicans held a slim Senate majority but GOP defectors voted for a Democratic speaker.

Last year marked the dismissal of a five-year-old federal lawsuit over Tennessee’s voting-rights restoration system. Free Hearts and the Campaign Legal Center represented plaintiffs in the long-delayed case, which saw some election policy changes along the way.

Roughly 184,000 people have completed supervision for felonies and their offenses don’t preclude them from restoring their voting rights, according to a plaintiffs expert’s 2023 estimate in the lawsuit. About one in 10 were estimated to have outstanding child support payments, and more than six in 10 owed court courts, restitution or both, the expert said.

Other states’ systems

Both Republican and Democratic-led states have eased the voting rights restoration process in recent years. Some states have added complexities.

In Florida, after voters approved a constitutional amendment in 2018 restoring the right to vote for people with felony convictions, the Republican-controlled Legislature watered that down by requiring payment of fines, fees and court costs.

Voting rights are automatically restored upon release in nearly half of states. In 15 others, it occurs after parole, probation or a similar period and sometimes requires paying outstanding court costs, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures. In Maine and Vermont, people with felonies keep their voting rights in prison, the NCSL says.

Ten other states including Tennessee require additional government action. Virginia ’s governor must intervene to restore voting rights of people convicted of felonies. In some states, including Tennessee, certain conviction types render someone ineligible.

However, Virginia lawmakers this year have passed a proposed state constitutional amendment to ask voters whether they want automatic voting rights restoration after someone is released from prison. Kentucky lawmakers have proposed a similar change for voters’ consideration that would automatically restore voting rights after certain completed sentences, including probation.

In a statement addressed to Bolaji Abdullahi, the party’s spokesperson, the lawyer cautioned that the ADC’s challenges are not confined to its discord with INEC alone. The lawyer also expressed concern over what he described as an insufficient response to a recent court order referenced by David Mark during a press briefing.

He noted that simply disputing the interpretation of the court ruling is not enough, stressing the need for clarity on the party’s next legal steps.

“The only reference to the court order by Sir David Mark in his press conference is that the interpretation given to the order is not correct,” he said.

Options Before the Party

The legal practitioner outlined several possible actions the ADC could take, including complying with the court order, seeking an accelerated hearing at the Federal High Court, or escalating the matter to higher courts.

He further suggested that the party could approach the Court of Appeal directly for proper interpretation of the “status quo ante bellum” cited in the ruling.

“We need to know whether the party will obey the order, go back to the Federal High Court and apply for accelerated hearing, will it appeal the order to the Supreme Court, or will it approach the Court of Appeal itself,” he added.

Congress Plans Still in Focus

Despite the legal uncertainties, the ADC has continued preparations for its congresses, a move seen by some observers as bold but potentially risky if the legal issues remain unresolved.

The lawyer emphasised that addressing the judicial concerns is just as important as proceeding with party activities.

“Addressing these issues is equally as important as going ahead with the convention. Thank you,” the statement concluded.

In Riverhead, New York, a Guatemalan national accused of child rape was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), bypassing New York’s sanctuary laws that might have otherwise led to his release without bail. This action kept him off the streets for months until an indictment was secured, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

“We had to skillfully navigate two progressive reforms to hold the defendant accountable for his alleged heinous crimes,” stated District Attorney Ray Tierney.

Under current state policies, prosecutors were prohibited from requesting cash bail or bond for the initial charge of endangering a child’s welfare, as noted by the DA’s office.

Furthermore, New York’s 2020 “Protect Our Courts Act” posed additional challenges, as ICE agents could face legal consequences for arresting the suspect at the courthouse following his release without bail.

“Incredibly, up in Albany right now there are new sanctuary laws currently under consideration that would have prevented us from even talking to federal immigration authorities,” Tierney said. “My message to our state legislators and governor is simple – stop protecting the rights of alleged child rapists at the expense of child victims.”

Carlos Aguilar Reynoso, 27, has now been indicted for the alleged rape of a 5-year-old girl he was supposed to be babysitting while her mother was at work on Feb. 1. Her injuries were severe enough to require surgery, according to prosecutors.

Police arrested Reynoso the next day — before the crime lab finished testing the evidence. So he was initially only charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Tierney’s office and the Suffolk County Police Department found a loophole. They released Reynoso with only a desk appearance ticket, rather than bringing him to court — and that allowed them to coordinate his immediate arrest by ICE for allegedly entering the U.S. illegally.

He was in ICE custody for 11 days while DNA testing was underway. When the results came in, they showed a match between Reynoso and samples collected from the 5-year-old victim, according to Tierney’s office.

It would be more than a month before his March 23 arraignment on five charges, including three felonies: sexual assault of a child, first-degree rape and first-degree sex abuse.

He remained in ICE custody the whole time.

In a statement, ICE’s New York Enforcement Removal Operations field office director, Kenneth Genalo, said the case shows how Empire State’s sanctuary laws expose helpless victims to “unnecessary harm.”

“Had there not been coordination in this case, this depraved criminal — who brutally terrorized a young child who will forever bear the physical and emotional scars of this violent attack — would be free to harm additional children in our state,” he said in a statement posted to X.

The charges in the indictment rose to a level that allowed the judge to order Reynoso held without bail at the Suffolk County Jail in Riverhead. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.

“I would also like to commend ICE as a law enforcement partner for preventing this defendant from potentially fleeing these very serious charges,” Tierney said.

Authorities said they declined to release specifics about the case, including where the abuse took place, in order to protect the victim’s identity.

Reynoso is due back in court on April 27.

The DA is also taking a hands-on role in the prosecution of suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann and has been a critic of bail rules that he has said allow allegedly dangerous people to go back into the community.

Those include a group accused of dismembering someone and scattering body parts around the town of Babylon in 2024.

A 71-year-old woman from Kansas has been sentenced to prison following a tragic case of prolonged abuse and neglect that led to the death of her 94-year-old mother.

Linda Oeding, aged 71, admitted to two charges of elder mistreatment earlier this year, as reported by the Kansas Attorney General’s Office. This mistreatment tragically culminated in the passing of her mother, Betty Oeding, who was 94 at the time of her death.

In a recent court ruling, Linda Oeding was handed a 32-month prison sentence for abuse and an additional eight months for neglect. The court decreed that these sentences would run consecutively, amounting to a total of 40 months behind bars.

“Our elders in Kansas deserve to be treated with dignity and respect, particularly by those trusted with their care,” stated Kansas Attorney General Kris Kobach. “We are committed to ensuring that those who mistreat or neglect vulnerable individuals are held responsible for their actions.”

According to documents obtained by the Junction City Post, Linda Oeding had taken on the role of her mother’s caregiver, presenting herself as the sole person available for the task.

Additionally, Linda Oeding prevented other family members from contacting her mother — preventing them from visiting or checking on the victim as she deteriorated under the defendant’s watch.

The woman’s poor treatment came to a head last year, according to a press release issued by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.

On Sept. 5, 2025, the defendant called emergency services to report that her mother had become unresponsive at the family’s home in Spivey, a tiny town located some 50 miles southwest of Wichita.

The defendant even turned down first responders who offered a variety of medical care for the victim, according to court records. Such treatment included transport to the nearest hospital, IV fluids, medications, and lifesaving resuscitation, authorities said.

“When EMS arrived, they observed Betty was experiencing malnourishment and improper living conditions, and recommended she be transported to a nearby hospital,” the press release explains. “Linda declined and insisted her mother be transported to [Hutchinson Regional Medical Center].”

Hutchinson Regional Medical Center was located nearly an hour away, the attorney general’s office noted in its own press release on the sentencing.

After the victim was transported to the regional hospital, she developed sepsis linked to her condition and living environment, according to law enforcement. Betty Oeding was discovered in a “shocking state” and said to be “severely emaciated, covered in advanced, infected pressure sores from prolonged immobility, and unwashed after extended neglect,” according to the AG’s office.

Five days later, the defendant’s mother died in hospice care.

On Sept. 11, 2025, the Kingman County Sheriff’s Office asked state investigators to step in after deputies “observed signs of neglect.”

On Sept. 12, 2025, Linda Oeding was arrested and booked on a broader array of relatively higher charges including murder in the first degree, mistreatment of a dependent adult or elder person, abuse and neglect, and interfering with medical care.

The plea deal resulted in the state dropping most of the charges.

“Unfortunately, elder neglect often goes unnoticed and unreported — we are so grateful for the medical professionals and law enforcement teams in this case who took immediate action to care for the elder victim and document the mistreatment,” Deputy Attorney General Jessica Domme, who prosecuted the case, said in a statement.
