SEBRING, Fla. (WFLA) — A Sebring police officer was taken to the hospital Monday after he was involved in a three-vehicle crash, officials said.
The crash happened shortly after 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of Flare Road and U.S. Highway 27 South, according to the Sebring Police Department.
Authorities said the officer was waiting in the left turn lane to travel onto U.S. Highway 27 South when his marked patrol unit was struck by another vehicle.
The officer was taken to a nearby hospital, and as of Monday afternoon, was in stable condition, the police department said.
Photos provided by the police department showed heavy damage to the left front of the officer’s patrol car. A white sedan was also damaged in the crash.
A pickup truck pulling a trailer was among the vehicles pictured in the photos. Officials did not say how or if the truck was involved in the crash.
The Highlands County Sheriff’s Office will be investigating the crash further. No further information was immediately available Monday.
