ORLANDO, Fla. – In the political arena of Orlando, District 5 Commissioner Shan Rose is fiercely contesting an election challenge she deems “frivolous.” She also raises questions about whether her challenger is even qualified to initiate the lawsuit.
This week, Rose’s legal representatives responded to a lawsuit filed by former Commissioner Regina Hill, who is contesting the recent election results. According to Rose’s team, Hill’s claims of election misconduct are baseless, and they argue she lacks the standing to sue because she does not reside in District 5.

Hill’s legal complaint alleges that Rose’s campaign engaged in unethical practices, including vote buying through incentives like health screenings and visa gift cards. The suit also accuses Rose’s team of engaging in improper ballot handling activities.
In response to questions about Rose’s rebuttal, Hill’s lawyer sidestepped the specific denials but insisted that Hill is indeed a resident of District 5.
The attorney said Hill “looks forward to proving it in court.”
Election results showed Rose receiving more than 50% of the vote and defeating Hill, who earned just over 30%.
