AUGUSTA, Ga. — The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended six individuals in connection with a drive-by shooting incident, authorities confirmed.
According to officials, the suspects are believed to have used a stolen gold vehicle to carry out the attack.
The individuals, identified as Jaleel Gantt, Eric Merriweather, Zatoria Griffin, Zykerria Merriweather, Christian Williams, and Julianna Rodriguez, are accused of opening fire on a residence located on D’Antignac Street on February 13.
At the time of the shooting, five people were reportedly inside the home, though no injuries have been disclosed.
Law enforcement officers managed to apprehend five of the suspects on York Drive, which is in close proximity to the location where the vehicle was allegedly stolen.
Jaleel Gantt was the only person not at the location. The vehicle had not been located at this time either, but all of the subjects admitted to being in the car with Gantt.
He was determined to be the driver during the time of the shooting.
None of the subjects could explain where the vehicle was or how they got it.
Five of the subjects were arrested in connection to the shooting and were additionally charged with Theft by Receiving Stolen Property – Felony for being in possession of the stolen vehicle.
Gantt, who was arrested Tuesday morning, is charged with 5 counts of Aggravated Assault, Criminal Damage to Property, and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.
