SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — The City of Springfield has shut down several massage businesses.

Many massage parlors were closed due to not following the city’s ordinance on those establishments, officials said Friday afternoon. Multiple departments worked together including Springfield Police, Springfield Public Works and outreach coordinators.

“Demonstrating a commitment to working closely with law enforcement and partner agencies, we are focused on ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and addressing community concerns related to these establishments,” a statement from City Hall reads. “Developments regarding the closure of the massage establishments were made today as part of this ongoing effort.”

The city did not say how many or which businesses were closed. No further details can be shared, city officials said.
