Steamy Sunday with Scattered Storms: Weather Alert

Rain chances increase the farther north you go.

Rain chances return to near normal levels for Sunday afternoon.

ORLANDO, Fla. – As the weekend wraps up, Central Florida can expect a modest increase in rain due to enhanced moisture creeping in with a weak frontal boundary making its way into the Southeast.

Sunday Forecast

Central Florida will kick off Sunday with mostly sunny skies, but isolated storms could develop around Marion County. Rainy spells are anticipated to focus on northern areas by late morning, then gradually drift southward as the day progresses. By mid-afternoon, scattered thunderstorms are expected to impact the I-4 corridor and the Orlando metro area. These will likely linger, especially over regions east of I-4, until they dissipate around 8 p.m. Temperatures will soar to the mid-90s with heat indices peaking near 105ºF.

Looking Ahead to Next Week

As Monday arrives, a drier air mass will set in over Central Florida, initially curbing rain chances. As the week unfolds, moisture is expected to tiptoe back in, utilizing the edge of high pressure over the western Atlantic to gradually increase rain potential. Daily high temperatures will persistently rise above the seasonal norm, topping out in the mid-90s each afternoon. Typically, this time of year sees average highs around 91°F.
