SAVANNAH, Ga () — Tuesday afternoon was a continuation of the nice weather pattern from Labor Day.
Afternoon highs were in just the low to mid 80s thanks to a mainly sunny sky.
The breeze was strong at times making conditions feel even more comfortable. A warmer and more humid pattern will be setting up though over the next several days.

A LOOK AHEAD
Wednesday will start out with morning lows in the lower to middle 60s. A partly to mostly sunny sky will help afternoon highs to warm into the mid to upper 80s.

Temperatures will become even warmer by the end of the week with afternoon highs by Friday will be back into the lower 90s. The normal highs for early September are in the upper 80s.
Humidity levels will be increasing, especially for late week. Heat index values in the upper 90s at times on Friday and into the weekend.
Despite more humid conditions setting up Friday through Sunday, rain and storm chances really will not return to the forecast until next week.
Just a few passing showers are expected later this week and over the weekend.
Next week is looking to stay somewhat unsettled with scattered showers and storms setting up along with temperatures cooling back into the 80s.

TRACKING THE TROPICS
The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a tropical wave that moved off of the west coast of Africa and is now located just southwest of the Cape Verde Islands.
This is a broad area of low pressure that some convective thunderstorms have been developing around. As it continues to move westward, the environment will support slow and gradual development.

It has a high (70%) chance as of becoming a tropical depression or tropical storm over the next 5-7 days as of Tuesday evening. Long-range guidance indicates that this system would stay well off of the east coast of the U.S. late next week.
This would be a similar path to Hurricane Erin which stayed a few hundred miles to the east and the primary concern was high surf and rip currents.
There is no threat to the United States right now from this system.
