SAVANNAH, Ga ()- The YMCA on West Broad Street has received a grant of $642,000 through this year’s bipartisan government funding package.
Senator Jon Ossoff was able to bring the two major parties together to deliver these upcoming resources to the local YMCA. Ossoff expressed his gratitude for being able to do this for Chatham County families.
“Chatham County families and children enjoy the West Broad Street YMCA every day. That is why I brought Republicans and Democrats together to upgrade facilities at the YMCA,” Sen. Ossoff said. “I thank Chatham County Chairman Chester Ellis for bringing this proposal to my office and for his leadership in the community.”
Ossoff is not the only one looking forward to the new renovations, Chairman Chester Ellis is beyond excited for what the future will bring to this YMCA.
““Chatham County is excited to support West Broad YMCA in their efforts to create good quality recreational and wellness opportunities for neighborhoods served by this Heritage Y,” said Ellis.
This grant will bring added resources for families in the Savannah area, such as reinstalling the swimming pool, adding more bathrooms, renovating the building, as well as building a 5-year-old and under playground.
