GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Marshawn Kneeland, a promising defensive end for the Dallas Cowboys and a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, was discovered dead following a police chase in Texas, authorities have confirmed.

The tragic news of Kneeland’s death was shared by the Cowboys on Thursday morning, according to reports from ESPN and the NFL.

“It is with profound sadness that the Dallas Cowboys announce the untimely passing of Marshawn Kneeland,” the team stated, as reported by ESPN. “Marshawn was a cherished member of our team and organization. Our deepest condolences and prayers are with his girlfriend, Catalina, and his family during this difficult time.”
