Tragic Marion County Accident Claims Life of 54-Year-Old Man

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A 54-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Marion County on Saturday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened at S.R. 200 and SW 140th Street around 8:40 a.m.

According to a crash report, an SUV being driven by a 22-year-old Dunnellon woman, was traveling west on SW 140th Street approaching the intersection of S.R. 200.

At the same time, a second SUV traveling north on S.R. 200 approaching the same intersection when the first SUV failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the intersection causing a collision.

Troopers said the Dunnellon woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. A 1-year-old girl who was passenger in the first SUV was also taken to the hospital, but the FHP did not disclose if she sustained any injuries.

The driver of the second SUV, identified as a 54-year-old Citrus Springs man, was pronounced dead at the hospital, troopers said.

No other information was released.
