2 individuals pulled from Savannah River after 1 fell in

SAVANNAH, Ga. () – Early Friday morning two individuals were pulled from the Savannah River near Plant Riverside after one of them fell in.

According to the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 574, at 3:26 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to the area around Plant Riverside for a report of someone in the Savannah River.

While en route, additional information was provided. One person had fallen into the river and a second person jumped in to attempt to rescue them. This was unsuccessful and both individuals ended up in distress and unable to escape the river.

Marine 2, which is staffed by Engine 3 personnel, made way from the city dock and located both subjects clinging to a pillar. Rescue 1 personnel were able to safely remove the subjects from the river. Crews then transported them back to the city dock, where they were evaluated by EMS.
