A representative for Lil Jon told media outlets that the family is asking for privacy during this time.
Lil Jon and his son have made many public appearances together over the years, even competing as part of a team last year on the game show “Family Feud.”
Smith also went on the MTV show “Family Legacy” to talk about his father’s career through his eyes.
“It’s dope to appreciate my dad, show respect, and just look at all the things he’s done, and it’s nice to get the torch passed down and do my own thing,” he told The Quintessential Gentleman while promoting the show. “Because it’s like it comes from him, but also I’m definitely taking it and making it my own.”
Smith and his father were also frequent collaborators, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. His producing credits include Saweetie’s “Get it Girl” and working with his dad on music for the Ying Yang Twins and Ice Cube.
Smith is described as having brown eyes, short black hair, is 5 feet, 9 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds.
