ORLANDO, Fla. – The next cold front is expected to move into Central Florida by early Thursday.

Before the front gets here, though, moisture associated with an area in the Gulf will start increasing rain late in the day Wednesday.

In general, conditions are forecast to remain mostly dry across the area through lunch-time for most areas as highs warm into the mid-80s under cloudy skies.

By Wednesday afternoon, the first round of rain will develop, with the highest threat for showers and storms north of the I-4 corridor. Rain coverage will be 30-50%.

Rain Chances Today

The storm prediction center has also highlighted areas north and west of Seminole County as a marginal risk for storms through the afternoon. The main impacts with the stronger storms will be lightning, gusty winds (40-60 mph) and heavy downpours.

A cold front will approach Central Florida Thursday morning and quickly move through by midday. Isolated storms are forecast along and north of the I-4 corridor (50%). Rain chances drop off once the front clears and the breeze picks up.

A large ridge of high pressure builds back in by Friday, with highs cooling into the mid-70s followed by a warm and dry Easter weekend.

Easter Sunday

A bigtime warmup continues through next week, with highs near 90 degrees by Tuesday.
