Receiving news that the role you’ve devoted countless hours to is being passed on to someone else can be challenging. However, Andrew Terraciano took a philosophical approach upon learning that his character, Sean Reagan, from “Blue Bloods” would be reimagined by Mika Amonsen for the spin-off series “Boston Blue.”

In a conversation with Us Weekly, Terraciano reflected, “It’s a wonderful feeling to remember every line and moment spent as that character. It doesn’t mean someone else can’t bring something extraordinary to it. I was fortunate to play Sean and send him into the world. Now, someone else gets to experience that joy.” He also mentioned a personal call from Donnie Wahlberg, expressing, “It was a touching experience to hear from an old friend whom I deeply respect and have learned so much from.”
Terraciano’s generosity is notable, given that he not only originated the role but has portrayed Sean since he was six. Growing up with the character, he navigated Sean through both failures and triumphs, yet he feels no resentment about the new casting choice.
Interestingly, Terraciano discovered the news of the recasting on the same day he graduated, thanks to a close family source. He shared with Us Weekly that CBS’s decision was relayed by his mother. “I received a call on my graduation day. Someone had spoken to my mom, and she called me in tears,” he recounted.
As for watching Mika Amonsen’s portrayal of Sean Reagan, Terraciano admits he’s been preoccupied. “I’ll get to it eventually. I’ve been incredibly busy,” he noted. “I’m pursuing my Master’s degree, which has meant pausing most TV viewing unless it’s course-related.” Despite his academic commitments, Terraciano has not abandoned his passion for acting and is now venturing into the world of theater, as he shared with the magazine.

Speaking of Andrew Terraciano’s education, it turns out that he learned the news about the recast from a source close to him — on the same day he graduated. The actor told Us Weekly that he heard about CBS’ plans from his mother. “I had somebody call me — actually the day that I was graduating — and they had spoken to my mom and she called me [crying],” he explained.
As for whether or not he’s sampled Mika Amonsen’s version of Sean Reagan, Terraciano is currently busy with other affairs. “I’m getting around to it. I’ve been very, very busy,” he said. “I’m getting my Masters right now. That means that I have put off almost all TV watching — unless it’s specifically related to a course.” Terraciano’s dedication to getting his degree is admirable, but he definitely hasn’t left behind his love of acting, explaining to the magazine that he’s begun to explore the theatrical world.
In any event, Terraciano has told Donnie Wahlberg that he’s always available if Wahlberg wants him for “Boston Blue”: “I said it to Donnie on the phone. If he says the word, I’ll be there. Not just with ‘Blue Bloods’ or ‘Boston Blue,’ but with anything in life.” In reality as in fiction, it looks like every branch of the Reagan family tree will be there to support each other.
