Since Miles Morales made his debut in the Marvel Universe, fans have been eagerly speculating who could best portray the dynamic character on screen. Names like Donald Glover and Jaden Smith have surfaced in these discussions, and following the breakout success of Netflix’s “Stranger Things,” Caleb McLaughlin has become a popular choice among fans.

McLaughlin’s association with the role of Miles has fueled countless debates and discussions online, with many arguing he’s the perfect candidate for a live-action adaptation. In 2019, fan art depicting McLaughlin as Miles appeared on Reddit, receiving overwhelming support and enthusiasm from fans. One user commented, “I really want him to play Miles Morales; he’s awesome in ‘Stranger Things.’”
However, there’s a concern that McLaughlin might outgrow the teenage role of Miles if casting doesn’t occur soon. Hollywood, though, often casts older actors in teen roles—take “The O.C.,” where actors in their mid-20s portrayed high schoolers. The pressing question remains: Is the Marvel Cinematic Universe prepared to introduce Miles Morales?
With “Stranger Things” wrapped up, McLaughlin may have the availability for new projects, such as portraying Miles Morales. Yet, it’s ultimately his decision if this aligns with his career aspirations.
Encouragingly, McLaughlin has expressed interest in the role on several occasions. During the February 2026 premiere of his film “Goat,” he shared with Variety his admiration for the character. McLaughlin stated, “I would love to play Miles. I think Miles represents something bigger than myself; it represents something bigger than most people. Also, being from New York and then just seeing the ‘Spider-Verse’ story, I just feel it’s really, really connected and I feel like a lot of people understand what that means.”

Even though the “Stranger Things” series finale provided plot holes that are hard to ignore, the show is over. It’s done and dusted. Without the series commitment, Caleb McLaughlin could have some extra time on his hands to play, say, Miles Morales. Ultimately, though, it’s up to the actor if that’s even one of his goals.
The good news is that McLaughlin has said he’d be down to play Miles a few times already. In February 2026, during the premiere of his film “Goat,” the actor told Variety all about his adoration of the character and why he’d welcome the opportunity to play him. “I would love to play Miles,” McLaughlin said, adding, “I think Miles represents something bigger than myself; it represents something bigger than most people. Also, being from New York and then just seeing the ‘Spider-Verse’ story, I just feel it’s really, really connected and I feel like a lot of people understand what that means.”
McLaughlin also shared videos of him doing acrobatic work on his Instagram account. Watching him in motion, there’s only one thought that comes to mind: Yeah, that’s Spidey right there.
