Kayce Dutton (played by Luke Grimes) continues to share a connection with his sister Beth (Kelly Reilly), a bond that might soon extend to a new character. In a subtle twist, Kayce’s current romantic interest, Dolly Weaver (played by Ellyn Jameson), reveals that she, along with her dangerous father Tom (Chris Mulkey), hails from Texas. Tom even takes Tate (Brecken Merrill) on a biplane trip for bass fishing in Texas. However, Dolly seems reluctant to return there, remarking to her father, “Who cares about Texas? My heart’s in Montana.”
Texas is notably where Beth and her family have relocated to, focusing on cattle farming and beef sales after their Montana ranch was devastated by wildfires in the “Yellowstone” spin-off, “Dutton Ranch.” Kayce has yet to delve into details about his sister’s new life; he’s only made passing mentions of his now-dispersed family on “Marshals.” His conversations primarily revolve around the lasting impact of his late father, John Dutton (Kevin Costner), on his life. This connection, however, suggests that Dolly might have ties to Beth, potentially complicating Kayce’s newfound, law-abiding existence.
In the meantime, Beth has made a few indirect comments about her roots in Montana on “Dutton Ranch.” She often speaks about building a legacy and the struggle she and Rip (Cole Hauser) face in preserving what they have. Still, direct references to John and other Dutton family members have been sparse.
A significant callback emerged recently. In Episode 3, “Act of God Business,” Beth tells her adversary Beulah Jackson’s son, Joaquin (Juan Pablo Raba), “You remind me of my father’s attorney. It’s not ideal.” This remark alludes to her father’s lawyer and her adopted brother, Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley), whom she killed in the “Yellowstone” series finale, hinting ominously at Joaquin’s possible fate.

Beth, meanwhile, has also made a couple of indirect references to her family back in Montana on “Dutton Ranch.” She has spoken about establishing a legacy and fighting for what she and Rip (Cole Hauser) are working hard to hold on to. But actual callbacks to John and the rest of the Duttons have been pretty thin on the ground.
One did arrive very recently, however. “You remind me of my father’s attorney. It’s not ideal,” she declared to nemesis Beulah Jackson’s son Joaquin (Juan Pabla Raba) during Episode 3, “Act of God Business.” Her father’s lawyer, of course, was her eternal enemy and adopted brother Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley), whom she killed during the “Yellowstone” series finale, which may be an ominous portent for Joaquin’s future as well.
Any reunion between Kayce and Beth would presumably be much sweeter — but since Beth’s never been an adherent of the straight and narrow path and Kayce is now a full-fledged U.S. Marshal, expect some major waves between the sibs if we ever get a crossover.
