Democratic socialist Abdul El-Sayed is markedly leading by 15 percentage points over Representative Haley Stevens in the Michigan Democratic primary for the U.S. Senate race.
With Election Day just around the corner on Tuesday, the race is heating up with only five days remaining.
This development spells troubling news for the Democratic Party.
According to a recent survey by Emerson College Polling in collaboration with WLNS and WOOD TV, El-Sayed is decisively ahead, receiving 54% support compared to Stevens’s 39%. When taking into account the preferences of undecided Democratic voters, El-Sayed’s support climbs to 57%, while Stevens trails at 41%, as reported by the progressive Hill.
The poll reveals a distinct generational divide among voters: those under 50 favor El-Sayed by a massive 42-point margin, standing at 67% to 25%. This advantage shrinks among voters in their 50s, giving him a 12-point lead, whereas those over 60 years old prefer Stevens, leading her by 14 points at 53% to 39%.
Tuesday’s winner will face off against likely Republican nominee, former Rep. Mike Rogers.
This poll is not an outlier. Poll after poll has shown the radical El-Sayed up by double digits over Stevens.
This is bad news for Democrats because the most recent polling shows the Republican Rogers defeating El-Sayed by ten points, while Stevens is up by a point over the Republican.
Should Rogers prevail over El-Sayed or Stevens, the GOP will be picking up a U.S. Senate seat currently held by retiring Democrat Gary Peters. A GOP win here would also pretty much ensure Republicans hold control of the U.S. Senate.
Democrats can find some comfort in older polls that show a close race between El-Sayed and Rogers. Still, there is no question El-Sayed will be easier to beat. He wants socialized medicine, open borders along with abolishing ICE, and property confiscation.
Even more troubling is his obvious hostility towards Jews and Israel. He cannot even say that Israel has a right to exist.
