What happened to Alexis Sharkey?

On October 6, 2021, Alexis Sharkey’s husband, Tom, was found dead in his daughter’s Fort Myers home, with a gunshot wound to the head.

Tom Sharkey was allegedly wanted in connection with Alexis’ strangulation in 2020. He had not yet been charged.

Newlywed Alexis went missing in Texas after she reportedly had an argument with an unidentified person alleged to be her husband, according to her mother Stacey Robinault.

Alexis’ mother said her friends had last heard from her at 6pm on November 27, before calls to her phone went straight to voicemail.

Stacey told reporters: “[Thanksgiving] was a busy day on her end and our end and so it was just one of those passing, type of ‘Love you’ things.

“Then Friday … honestly, Friday got away. [It was a] busy day.

“We never talked, and then she went missing Friday night and I have not seen her or heard from her since.”

Her mother suspected foul play before her body was dumped.

Houston Police said at the time that her autopsy showed she had been strangled.

Authorities later said that Tom had been untruthful and evasive with investigators, and that there was a history of domestic violence between him and Alexis.

There had been rumors surrounding her alleged involvement in a pyramid scheme, which have subsequently been dismissed.

However, the officials said Alexis spoke of divorce before she was killed, KHOU-TV reported.

Her friends also confirmed that months before her disappearance Alexis had confided in them how the couple were in the process of separating and her demeanor had changed.

The couple were approaching their first anniversary in December 2020.

Her death is the subject of an ITV true crime documentary series.

Where was her body found?

Alexis was tragically found naked on the side of a road.

The influencer – who had 21,000 followers on Instagram – had no visible injuries on her remains, and is believed to have remained in the spot she was found overnight.

Alexis’ husband called “her the most amazing woman” in a tribute on social media following the discovery.

Sharing pictures of Alexis in her wedding dress, he wrote: “Never seen or felt such beauty! You are my world!

“You made life so incredible! Made sense of my existence! My purpose! And showed me how to truly love!”

Her mother said that following the death, Tom refused to let her see Alexis’ body for two weeks.

She told local news station KRIV: “As her husband, he would have primary custody of what determined what happened with her, and he had said all along that he was willing to let her come home.”

Stacey said Tom cut off communication and eventually, the medical examiner made her the next of kin.

The Daily Beast reported that Alexis had allegedly told friends during a trip in early November that Tom was abusing her

A friend told the publication: “Throughout the trip, he was sending really awful, nasty messages to her.

“But one night when she and I were talking alone she said, ‘He strangles me and chokes me out and I blackout and wake up on the bathroom floor every single time.”
