Chanel’s landmark Australian runway show drew Hollywood stars, fashion insiders and Sydney’s social elite to Barangaroo, creating one of the city’s most coveted invitations.
Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie were among the headline arrivals, but several prominent figures from Australia’s fashion and society scene were notably missing.
Elle Ferguson was one of the most talked-about absentees. The fashion influencer has long been regarded as one of Chanel’s most enthusiastic Australian supporters.
The former blogger, who co-founded the fashion website They All Hate Us, has frequently showcased her impressive collection of designer handbags and her enduring affection for the French luxury label.
Earlier this year, Ferguson said she was the first person in Paris to secure Chanel’s highly sought-after Maxi Flap bag, sharing her excitement in a series of Instagram posts.
Despite that well-documented relationship with the brand, however, she was not seen at Thursday’s invitation-only runway presentation.

The timing was particularly striking: just one day before the show, Ferguson posted a photograph of herself with one of her Chanel handbags on Instagram.
She continued sharing images of the bag on Thursday and Friday, tagging the brand in her caption.
“Elle really is Ms Chanel in Australia. You’d think, given her status and spending, she would have been there. People were talking,” a society source told the Daily Mail.
Ferguson was not the only high-profile fashion name missing from the event.
Activewear entrepreneur Pip Edwards, who has long been one of the country’s most photographed fashion personalities, was also absent.
Other expected guests who did not appear included radio presenter Jackie ‘O’ Henderson, socialite Lisa Wipfli, Bondi Pilates studio owner Bernadette Sukkar and fashion influencer Montarna McDonald.
Socialite Deborah Symond O’Neil, daughter of Aussie Home Loans founder John Symond, and her sister-in-law Lou O’Neil were also missing from the guest list on the night.
Hollywood actor Jacob Elordi was another unexpected absence.
The Australian star, known for Euphoria and Saltburn, has a longstanding connection to Chanel after being appointed a global ambassador for its Bleu de Chanel fragrance. He did not attend the Sydney showcase.
Socialite Lisa Wipfli, the wife of radio personality Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli, was not among the guests

Several well-known local personalities did, however, make it through the exclusive doors.
The attendees included Sarah Lucas, wife of Melbourne restaurateur Chris Lucas and one of Chanel’s most prominent Australian clients; self-styled “Queen of the Birdcage” Jaimee Belle Kennedy; Paddington interior designer Tamsin Johnson; and socialites Stephanie May and Kate Champion.
“Chicken heiress” Jess Ingham and Laura Hazzouri, wife of Revelop co-founder and newly minted billionaire Charbel Hazzouri, were also present.
It remains unclear whether former friends Ingham and Hazzouri spoke during the event, as their reportedly strained relationship has been the subject of longstanding speculation in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
The guest list brought together a high-profile mix of Australian entertainment figures, sporting champions and leading names from the fashion industry.
Pop icon Kylie Minogue joined Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman and Barbie star Margot Robbie among the biggest names at the historic event.
Kidman’s 15-year-old daughter, Faith Kidman Urban, accompanied her to the show.
It was also a family occasion, with Nicole’s sister, Antonia Kidman, in attendance.
Elsewhere, filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, Olympic champion Cathy Freeman and DJ Dom Dolla were spotted in the crowd. Actor Joel Edgerton arrived with his partner, Vogue Australia editor-in-chief Christine Centenera.

Other guests included tennis champion Lleyton Hewitt and his daughter Mia, who has followed her mother into modelling, along with Australian surfing star Jack Robinson.
Fashion designer Jenny Kee, artist Louise Olsen and numerous Australian models and creatives also attended the high-profile occasion.
Chanel staged two runway presentations, at 2.30pm and 6pm, showcasing the house’s Cruise 2026-27 collection by creative director Matthieu Blazy.
The collection debuted in Biarritz, France, in April. The Sydney event marked the first official Chanel runway show held on Australian soil.
