DONALD Trump was encouraged by fans to miss part of his trial to attend his son Barron’s high school graduation, calling his judge “corrupt.”
Trump announced on Monday that it looked like New York Judge Juan Merchan would not be letting the former president attend the graduation of his youngest son, Barron Trump.
“We had some amazing things happen today. As you know, my son is graduating from high school. It looks like the judge will not let me go to the graduation of my son who’s worked very, very hard and he is a great student,” Trump told Fox News on Monday after the first day of his hush-money trial.
Last year, Trump was charged with 34 felony charges related to a hush money scheme before the 2016 election.
He has pleaded not guilty.
He also wrote on Truth Social later Monday evening to elaborate on Barron’s accomplishments and how “unfair” it was that he could not attend his graduation.
“Who will explain for me, to my wonderful son, Barron, who is a GREAT Student at a fantastic School, that his Dad will likely not be allowed to attend his Graduation Ceremony, something that we have been talking about for years, because a seriously Conflicted and Corrupt New York State Judge wants me in Criminal Court on a bogus “Biden Case” which, according to virtually all Legal Scholars and Pundits, has no merit, and should NEVER have been brought,” Trump wrote.
He called the case “fake,” claiming that it was meant to attack “Crooked Joe Biden’s” political opponent in the 2024 presidential election.
“The Judge, Juan Merchan, is preventing me from proudly attending my son’s Graduation. Seems very unfair, doesn’t it? But this whole event is unfair,” he went on.
However, Merchan said that it may be possible for Trump to attend his son’s graduation on May 17, depending on how the trial develops, according to the Huffington Post.
‘PURE EVIL’
Trump’s older sons and fans of the Republican candidate spoke out about the conflicting issue.
“Pure evil,” Donald Trump Jr. wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, in response to a post about his father not being able to attend.
Trump’s other son, Eric Trump, also shared his thoughts on X about the judge’s apparent decision.
“Judge Merchan is truly heartless in not letting a father attend his son’s graduation,” he wrote.
Another person suggested that the president still go and watch his son graduate.
“Dear President Trump, go see your son graduate. Signed, Real Americans,” wrote Steve (@SteveLovesAmmo) on X.
Barron Trump timeline
BARRON Trump is Donald Trump’s youngest son and is celebrating his 18th birthday.
Barron was born in March 2006 – more than a year after Melania and Donald tied the knot.
At just 10 months old, Barron was pictured with Donald when the tycoon was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Melania was pictured holding Barron, who was almost one at the time, at the 16th annual Bunny Hop in March 2007.
Barron, then age 10, struggled to keep his eyes open during Trump’s acceptance speech in November 2016 after he defeated Hillary Clinton.
Barron finished the 2017 school year in Manhattan – months after his dad was inaugurated.
He joined his family at the White House in the summer of 2017.
Barron then enrolled at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Maryland.
Barron enrolled at the Oxbridge Academy in the summer of 2021.
In November 2022, Barron was pictured at Tiffany Trump’s wedding.
Barron attended his grandmother’s funeral in January 2024.
‘FAMOUS LIAR’
All three of the tweets were written on Monday after Trump spoke but before the judge made any kind of definitive ruling on the situation.
People in the comments raged about the jump to critique the judge before a decision was made.
“Quit lying. Judge Merchan DID NOT MAKE A RULING YET,” wrote a user.
“It’s not evil,” one user wrote to Donald Trump Jr.
“No other criminal defendant would be entitled to skip trial for a graduation. It’s simply the same rules as for the rest of us mere mortals.”
“He hasn’t even ruled on it yet and look at you already crying for attention,” wrote another.
A fourth commenter called Trump “the U.S. most prolific and famous liar.”
“The judge never said he couldn’t. He said he’d rule closer to the time. Another lie by the U.S. most prolific and famous liar.”
Another user wrote a similar comment.
“Judge Merchan didn’t say that he couldn’t go to Barron’s graduation. He said we was gonna wait to see how the trial progressed before making a ruling. Donald lies…again,” they said.
Ahead of his high school graduation, Barron, 18, was pictured at his $170-per-ticket prom at Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach.
He was spotted towering over his classmates wearing a stoic expression.
The U.S. Sun has reached out to Trump’s campaign for comment.
