PRESIDENT Joe Biden insisted his memory “is fine” during a surprise address to the nation on Thursday night.
The emotional speech came just hours after it was ruled he will not face criminal charges over keeping secret documents — as prosecutors say he is “an elderly man with a poor memory”.
Biden also highlighted how there were claims that his memory was so bad that he forgot the death of his son, Beau, and got emotional over the comment.
“How dare he raise that,” Biden said.
“I know what the hell I’m doing.
“My memory is fine, take a look at what I’ve done since I’ve been president.”
Biden began the press conference by saying, “I was pleased to see it reached a firm conclusion, that no charges should be brought against me in this case.”
“This was an exhaustive investigation dating back 40 years …”
“I cooperated completely, didn’t throw up any roadblocks.”
The special counsel declared, “The decision to decline criminal charges was straightforward.”
AVOIDS TRIAL
The special counsel declared Biden would not face criminal charges over keeping secret documents on Thursday.
The decision comes following a report last night that confirmed Biden “wilfully retained and disclosed classified materials” while Vice President.
Biden will not face charges though after mixing up dates from when he served as VP and the year Beau died.
The mix-up proved that he is a “well-meaning elderly man.”
“At trial, Mr Biden would likely present himself to a jury as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” special counsel Robert Hur said, explaining the lack of charges.
