HUMAN remains close to the spot where missing girl Madalina Cojocari’s mom Diana was seen driving in the woods have been discovered.
Hunters unearthed the gruesome find in the Pisgah National Forest, North Carolina.
They immediately alerted Madison County Sheriff’s Office to the discovery, who then contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation, ABC 11 reported.
Agents liaised with deputies in the North Carolina mountains on Sunday before beginning their investigation.
The remains were found close to Stackhouse Road, which is close to Lonesome Mountain Road – where Diana Cojocari was spotted driving through woodland by police.
Diana is the mother of missing 11-year-old Madalina Cojocari who went missing in November 2022.
In December last year, one neighbor observed Madalina’s parents lighting a fire and torching couch cushions and other items in their backyard days after she disappeared, the Daily Mail reported.
“They took all kinds of samples from the fire pit area,” he said.
“I guess they were trying to figure out if they burned anything of substance there.”
“It’s a gross feeling to know something like this happened in your neighborhood,” he added.

“It’s very suspicious that the mother didn’t report the girl missing for two weeks.”
It would be two weeks before Diana would eventually report her daughter missing.
Diana was arrested along with Madalina’s stepfather Christopher Palmiter for failing to do so immediately.
Neither were charged with directly harming Madalina.
However, the gruesome remains have sparked speculation online.
A spokesperson for the police department said that while the newly uncovered remains had not yet been identified, early indications pointed to them belonging to an older man.
The U.S. Sun has reached out to the Cornelius Police Department for comment.
It comes after unsealed search warrants revealed two potential sightings of Madalina in two different locations with a mystery man after she vanished.
Investigators uncovered surveillance photos that they believe might show Madalina.
Two possible sightings were highlighted in the warrant, one in Sugar Mountain, North Carolina, and a second at a Lowes Food market in Linville.
The possible sightings emerged after a woman claimed that she saw a girl that looked just like Madalina on July 5.
