Federal agents searched Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Washington home early Monday as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into questions surrounding her immigration history, according to reports.
Homeland Security Investigations conducted the operation, a source familiar with the matter told Fox News Digital.
A Justice Department spokesperson said agents had executed a search warrant authorized by a judge in the Washington, D.C., area.
“This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation,” the spokesperson said.
Investigators under Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin are reportedly examining immigration documents that Omar’s late father completed on her behalf when she was a child. Omar, a Somali-born Democrat, has not been accused of wrongdoing in connection with the search.
The search represents a significant escalation in an inquiry first made public by border czar Tom Homan in September.
When asked whether Omar herself was under investigation, Homan declined to provide details but said, “No one’s above the law.” He also did not rule out the possibility of a citizenship review, though no such action has been announced.
Mullin had previously indicated that the inquiry extended beyond Omar’s disputed 2009 marriage. He suggested that immigration consequences could follow if investigators establish misconduct. Omar has repeatedly faced unproven allegations that she married her brother to help him enter the United States.

Minnesota has become a major focus of the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement campaign and is home to the largest Somali community in the United States.
The state is also at the center of a wide-ranging Medicaid fraud investigation that federal prosecutors have warned could involve as much as $9 billion. The administration has responded by assembling a strike force of prosecutors to pursue the allegations.
The January deaths of two U.S. citizens, Renee Good and Alex Pretti, who were shot by federal immigration agents in Minnesota roughly two weeks apart, triggered widespread criticism, including from some Republicans. The circumstances surrounding the shootings have remained a major source of controversy.
The backlash continues to weigh on the White House as Republicans work to retain control of Congress with the midterm elections approaching.
The search is likely to energize President Trump’s supporters while placing immigration enforcement back at the center of the political conversation just ahead of the elections.
Omar, a member of the progressive “Squad,” is among Trump’s most vocal congressional opponents and has been a frequent target of his criticism since his first presidential term.

Omar married her former political consultant Tim Mynett in Washington in March 2020, just four months after her divorce from Ahmed Hirsi, the father of her three children, was finalized.
Mynett’s ex-wife, Beth, had filed for divorce the previous August, claiming in court papers that he walked out on her after making a ‘shocking declaration of love’ for the congresswoman.
The raid comes less than seven weeks after Minneapolis police swooped on the apartment Omar’s son, Adnan Hirsi, 20, shares with a roommate.
Officers seized guns and ammunition from the home and arrested the roommate, Abdulrahman Abdi, 22, on a weapons charge after finding a firearm in his impounded car.
Hirsi has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
