Jennifer Lawrence has been seen out in New York City after publicly discussing her decision to undergo cosmetic surgery.
The 36-year-old actor said she opted for breast enhancement surgery after her second pregnancy left her feeling that her body had not recovered in the same way it had after her first.
Lawrence and her art gallerist husband, Cooke Maroney, are parents to two sons: four-year-old Cy and a younger child born in March 2025. The couple have chosen not to reveal their toddler’s name.
Speaking to The Cut, the Oscar winner said she wants to embrace the idea of being a “sexy mom” and acknowledged that she may consider a facelift later in life.
Images from the accompanying magazine shoot quickly spread online, prompting some fans to question whether Lawrence’s appearance had changed and to speculate about her face.
Amid the social media reaction, the actor was photographed in Manhattan on Wednesday wearing oversized sunglasses that concealed much of her complexion.
Jennifer Lawrence was photographed in New York this week after speaking publicly about her cosmetic surgery.
Wearing a full-length canary-yellow coat against the autumn chill, she highlighted her features with bold makeup and dark lipstick.
Later that day, the Don’t Look Up star was seen pushing a stroller along a Manhattan sidewalk, appearing to go makeup-free.
Lawrence stepped out in a bright yellow coat, protecting herself from the cool weather while wearing defined makeup and a deep, dark lip color.
The actor was also spotted taking her child out in a stroller, with her face appearing largely free of makeup as she walked through Manhattan.
The Daily Mail has contacted Jennifer Lawrence’s representative for comment.
“I want to be a sexy mom,” Lawrence told The Cut. “At drop-off, I want to look like a woman that has her s*** together even when I’ve just woken up and don’t have my s*** together.”
The magazine photographs published alongside her comments soon went viral, drawing criticism from social media users who said they barely recognized the actor.
“Why do celebrities feel the need to get work done? In most cases, they become unrecognizable. Does altering their look actually help their careers?” one commenter wrote.

Another fan expressed disappointment, writing, “Oh, please, not JLaw. Of all people that breaks my heart…” The user added that her face looked different in a way that was “subtle but at the same time feels like I’m looking at an impersonator.”
Lawrence first revealed last October that she was considering breast enhancement surgery after noticing the physical impact of her second pregnancy.
“Everything bounced back, pretty much, after the first one. Second one, nothing bounced back,” she explained in an interview with the New Yorker.
The new comments and cover images sparked a wave of online reaction, with some fans focusing on what they believed was a change in Lawrence’s facial appearance.
