A MAN has drowned in a lake outside SoFi Stadium, in what officials have described as an accident.
His death marks the second to occur in the man-made lake in Inglewood, California since it opened in 2020.
“It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of an individual last evening,” SoFi Stadium said in a Saturday statement.
“Our deepest condolences go out to the individual’s family and friends for their loss. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.”
Authorities have confirmed that the man drowned on Friday night.
He was reportedly 19-years-old, according to KTLA.
Inglewood Police Lt. Cilia Islas told the Los Angeles Times that the man was seen entering the lake at around 9:30 p.m.
He did not resurface and was found shortly before 11 p.m. after a dive team executed a search and rescue mission.
CPR was administered shortly after he was found, however the man was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.
Islas told the outlet that officials believe it was an accidental drowning.
The man’s identify has not been publicly released.
The same evening, a concert was held at the SoFi Stadium, featuring DJ Illenium.
The concert was reportedly scheduled to end at 11 p.m., according to KTLA.
It was not immediately clear if the man who drowned at been at the concert earlier in the evening.
The man’s death is the second time someone has drowned in the man made lake outside the NFL stadium.
A 45-year-old man was first found dead after jumping into the lake in July 2022.
Friday’s incident remains under investigation.
The Los Angeles Stadium first opened in September 2020 and cost approximately $5.5 billion to build.
It is home to the Los Angeles Rams and Chargers NFL teams.
The water feature outside the stadium is said to be approximately 15-feet deep, stretching across six acres, according to the Daily Mail.
It reportedly hold nearly 11 million gallons of waters and has several features like waterfalls.
