A WALMART shopper slammed the retailer after he claimed he was made to feel like a “criminal” following a controversial measure.
The customer took to X, formerly Twitter, to complain about his in-store experience.
Keith Samet (@DD8122) alleged that some actions at Walmart seemed to make him feel bad.
“Shopping at @Walmart sure makes you feel like a criminal these days,” Samet said.
He also claimed that certain actions from staff had affected his shopping experience for the worse.
“They stand around you like hawks at the checkout, scan your receipt with their phones and they check to see if you paid for your bulk waters,” he said.
Samet alleged that these extreme actions were, in his scenario, taken on low-value items and questioned what the measures would be on high-value goods.
“Nevermind the expensive stuff you bought,” he added.
A growing number of customers have taken to social media to share their discontent with certain aspects of the checkout experience at Walmart.
This has included receipt checks but also self-checkouts and the lack of face-to-face cashiers at some locations.
The U.S. Sun has previously reported on another disgruntled shopper who shared her response to receipt checks.
X user @TamBRUH said she refused to participate in the receipt checks and explained how.
“I don’t even look at them,” she said.
“Walk past like they don’t exist.”
The shopper suggested that the store should have had more face-to-face cashiers to avoid her actions.
“They should’ve rang me up if they want to check my receipt,” she added.
A lawyer previously explained that customers have to show their receipts at membership stores like Costco and Sam’s Club as they agreed to this when they signed up, The U.S. Sun previously reported.
Non-membership stores like Walmart cannot legally enforce this measure as customers do not need to sign up to shop there, lawyer Alex Colangelo said.
The U.S. Sun has reached out to Walmart for comment.
