Nonbinary Billions Actor Reveals They’re Seeking Service Work

Asia Kate Dillon, known for roles in Billions and Orange Is the New Black, says they are returning to food service work after being unable to secure new acting jobs.

The 41-year-old non-binary performer shared their résumé on Instagram this week, alongside an appeal for work in the service industry.

Dillon explained that they began working as a dishwasher and food runner as a teenager before rising through the restaurant industry. They eventually became a floor manager at several Brooklyn restaurants.

In 2015, Dillon became a full-time actor and performer, saying they had worked exclusively in theater, film and television for the past 11 years.

“Now, like for many, many performer colleagues of mine — particularly those of us who are trans/nonbinary/gender nonconforming — acting work has all but diminished, and I’m in need of service work once more,” Dillon wrote.

Dillon is perhaps best known for portraying Taylor Mason on the Showtime drama Billions, appearing from the show’s second season through its conclusion in 2023.

The gender-nonconforming actor also played Brandy Epps in the fourth and fifth seasons of Netflix’s Orange Is the New Black. Dillon appeared as The Adjudicator in John Wick: Chapter 3.

Their most recent role was in the low-budget independent film Outerlands, which follows a non-binary gig economy worker balancing low-paying jobs in San Francisco.

The Daily Mail has contacted Dillon for comment but has not yet received a response.

Dillon is not the only LGBTQIA+ performer to speak publicly about the lack of work in Hollywood.

Last month, transgender actor Jack Haven made an urgent appeal for acting work, saying they needed employment to maintain their health insurance.

The 32-year-old, known for starring in the acclaimed horror film I Saw the TV Glow and Netflix’s Atypical, said they needed to earn $4,000 by the end of the month to qualify for Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) health insurance in 2027.

Haven, who uses they/them pronouns, posted a video on YouTube titled “Are You Casting?”

Four days later, Haven uploaded a second YouTube video with an update.

In the first video, Haven said they were “in a bit of an emergency situation,” explaining that they had only two weeks to find work before losing their insurance.

“I guess what I’m asking is if you, or if anyone you know, can hire me on a set or production and pay me $4,000, I will do, pretty much, any job,” they said.

‘I can sing. I can dance. I can talk softly, loudly. I can do accents – British,’ Haven added.

A few days later, they shared a follow-up video thanking people for job offers and addressing others criticizing them for not getting a ‘real’ job.

‘I guess a lot of people saw the video where I asked for $4,000. I got a lot of offers, so thank you guys,’ they said.

‘And I totally understand why people are also responding to it with anger and frustration, telling me to get a real job,’ Haven continued.

‘Um, that wouldn’t really help with healthcare right now, but, um, I don’t have any skills.’

Haven was most recently seen in the acclaimed horror-comedy Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma.

The film, which reunites Haven with I Saw the TV Glow writer and director Jane Schoenbrun, features Hacks star Hannah Einbinder as a rising filmmaker who’s invited to reboot a long-dead horror franchise with unmistakable similarities to the Friday the 13th franchise.

But a meeting with the reclusive star of the horror films, played by X-Files icon Gillian Anderson, upends the director’s life and leads to a sexual awakening, even as a mysterious mass killer threatens to intrude on real life.
