House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (NY-08) once again highlighted his challenges as the Democratic spokesperson during his recent interview on Good Day New York.
During the segment, Jeffries attempted to sway both the hosts and viewers by blaming former President Donald Trump for the surge in gas prices.
This assertion by Jeffries faces two significant issues. Firstly, oil prices have actually been on a downward trend due to ongoing peace talks with Iran. Secondly, with an agreement now on the horizon, it is anticipated that prices will decrease further as shipping operations stabilize.
“It was a reckless war of choice that has obviously cost the American people significantly, particularly as it relates to skyrocketing gas prices in an environment where the cost of living was already too high,” Jeffries said.
This claim from Jeffries has two problems. First, oil prices have already been coming down because of the peace negotiations with Iran. Second, now that a deal is being signed, the prices are likely to drop even more, as shipping returns to normal.Â
